LeonaLeona Louise Lewis, born 3rd April 1985 is an actor musician, activist, and singer who hails from Britain. She was born and raised in the London Borough of Islington and was a student at Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis received national recognition when she was awarded the third and final season on The X Factor 2006 and was awarded a contract of 1,000,000 pounds with Syco music. A cover of Kelly Clarkson's"A Moment Like This" was her winning song. It surpassed 50,000 digital downloads in less than thirty minutes and peaked at the top spot for 4 weeks. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5-album deal in February 2007. Her success continued to grow with the announcement of her debut Studio album Spirit (2007), that was certified platinum 10x in the UK as well as becoming the fourth-highest-selling album of the 2000s , and also one of the albums that sold the highest in UK chart history. In the words of the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the best-selling debut album of female artists in the 21st century. The UK's number-one single, Bleeding Love, remained at No. #1 for seven weeks and then became the biggest-seller of 2007, in the eyes of the Official charts company. The song was also the highest-selling track in the US during the same time. Lewis won the Billboard Best New Artist Award the following year. In 2009, she dropped her second studio album Echo, and recorded the song that served as the soundtrack, "I See You" in the movie Avatar. In the year 2011, Lewis released the single "Collide", a collaboration in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii along with her first extended work, Hurt: The EP. The release of her third studio album, Glassheart (2012), was a departure in direction for Lewis who draws in dubstep as well as electronic music. When she was on the Glassheart Tour in 2013, she started recording music for her first Christmas album. Later that year, Christmas with Love featuring the single that was released as the album's lead track "One more sleep" it reached the top three spot in the UK. The chart's entry was what made Lewis her the only British single female singer to make it to the top fivespot, with eight songs. The singer also broke the record of Olivia Newton-John's seven.
